If you are interested in an industry career path, in addition to the traditional options, the BMI program offers a Professional Science Masters (PSM) option. The PSM option trains students for a fast track to managerial positions in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical/clinical industries. In this option you learn science content along with business and management skills that are required to lead teams of scientists in the industry. The PSM option replaces the master's thesis with an industry internship. For your information San Diego is the largest Biotechnology hub and one of the largest pharmaceutical and medical industry hubs in the US. As such, our program is strategically located to place its graduates in one of the most vibrant industries in the world. PSM students typically have an easier time in finding fulltime and internship positions in the industry.
